About the role
As an Environmental Engineer, you will be an important part of Bona's environmental and sustainability team and will have the opportunity to work broadly with regulatory issues, environmental work, and the digitization of processes. Therefore, we prefer that you have good IT and systems understanding, where you can easily familiarize yourself with the company's digital environments. A typical work week may involve driving and answering questions regarding chemical legislation or providing advice on raw materials and updating safety data sheets. The core of the role will therefore be to actively work with “Product Compliance,” meaning making Bona's products marketable in various markets around the world. Furthermore, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and managing data from both customers and suppliers, as well as ensuring that Bona's products comply with international and national legal requirements and regulations (GHS & CLP). The work also includes identifying and classifying health and environmental aspects, as well as supporting Bona's sustainability efforts by driving improvements related to chemical use and sales of products according to national and international regulations.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Managing product classification and labeling according to GHS/CLP.
- Managing and developing safety data sheets, labels, and environmental product declarations (IA by Sphera).
- Ensuring that raw materials and products meet relevant legal requirements.
- Being responsible for driving parts of larger projects where the ultimate goal is for Bona's products to meet requirements and thus be sold in different parts of the world.
- Responding to customer inquiries regarding information related to the company's products.
- Managing questions regarding environmental labels and certifications.
- Monitoring chemical legislation and adapting the company's processes (REACH and CLP).
- Providing support and collaborating with R&D, Product Management, and Purchasing in regulatory and environmental matters.
- Coordinating projects related to product compliance and certifications.
Since the role is global, you will collaborate with Bona's subsidiaries and other international entities.
About you
We are looking for someone with an analytical and systematic approach, good IT maturity, and an understanding of chemical legislation, sustainability issues, and regulatory processes. Furthermore, we believe that you are patient and have a pedagogical ability to easily explain and engage with others in a pleasant manner. You do not need to be an expert in chemistry, but you should understand chemical principles and regulations and be able to communicate them clearly. You thrive in a role where you both work with details and, when necessary, drive improvement projects. Being proactive and self-driven are also important traits in this role, as you will need to take responsibility and manage your own tasks to contribute to making Bona's products marketable.
We prefer that you have:
- Post-secondary education in chemistry, environmental science, or similar.
- Experience with regulatory issues and chemical legislation (e.g., REACH, GHS/CLP).
- Ability to collect, analyze, and manage environmental and chemical data.
- Understanding of classification and labeling of chemicals, such as physical, health, and environmental aspects.
- Good IT skills and preferably experience with SAP, IA by Sphera, or other relevant systems.
- Fluent Swedish and English in both spoken and written form. German is also an advantage.
- Experience in the paint or lacquer industry, chemical industry, or food industry is a plus.
As a person, you are analytical, structured, and solution-oriented. You have patience and a good ability to handle both details and the big picture in complex regulations. You are unpretentious and have good collaboration skills, and you enjoy both routine work and more complex issues.
